Photos From Faith Fest / Interfaith Events
Faith Fest Owensboro began in 2011 by the Owensboro-Daviess County Ministerial Association as 'A Celebration of the Many Religions in Our Area' with the purpose to nuture Owensboro as a compasionate community.
Owensboro Convention Center Interfaith Service & Blessing
Rev. Randy Jones, Woodlawn United Methodist, organized an interfaith service through the Owensboro-Daviess County Ministerial Association. Participating representatives were from Temple Adath Israel, Islamic Center of Owensboro, St. Stephen's Cathedral, Zion UCC, Woodlawn UMC, Tri-State Hindu Temple, Tri-State Jain Community, and Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Owensboro (1UU).
Each representative offered a teaching or prayer about the importance of places, community, and right intention. The service concluded with a prayer from the 1UU Minister, Rev. Dr. Claudia A. Ramisch.
Wild Mountain Thyme offered several pieces of music on American folk instruments as part of the service. The service took place in the West Ballroom on the third floor after a buffet lunch. The warm atmosphere created in the Ballroom by the prayers helped us face the snow and cold that greeted us outside when the service was over!
First Interfaith Potluck
The Owensboro Daviess County Ministerial Association is sponsoring a monthly series of potlucks for the interfaith community. The first was held at the Hospital and attended by about 20 people.
Subsequent meals have been at 1UU, Third Baptist, and Zion United Church of Christ. At each gathering the host may give a brief presentation about their faith, the history of their community in Owensboro, a tour of their faith home and answer questions.
Guests are invited and asked to bring a dish and a card detailing all ingredients including seasonings.
